Services for Victor "Blackie" Moore, 84, of Marietta, are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta, with his son, Denny Moore, officiating and a eulogy by Johnny Clark. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will be under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Moore was born in Wewoka, Okla., on Feb. 22, 1929, the son of Albert E. and Annie E. Yandell Moore. He passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
Moore had been a resident of Love and Carter counties most of his life. He married the former Nettie Hughes in 1979 in Durant. Blackie was a driller in the oilfield, and also owned and operated a donut shop. Moore was a very hard worker, and always had at least two jobs. He will be remembered as a very kind, caring and gentle man. Blackie enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends at the coffee shop. He was of the Baptist faith.
Moore was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted Moore and sister Jean Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie of the home; son and daughter-in-law Denny and Lisa Moore of Marietta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Eldon McCage of Thackerville, and Vickie and Johnny Clark of Mexico; five grandchildren, Tresia, Glenn, Diane, Cory and Kaitlin; and nine great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers will be Cory Clark, Devyn Smith, Keith McLaughlin, Sheldon Brown, Clayton Hughes and Lee Moore. Honorary bearers are Ernest Morgan, Randy McFarland, Vernon Hughes and Jacob Lindsey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
