Services for Eric Edwin Middleton Jr., 90, Lawton, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William F. Todd and the Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.


Services for Eric Edwin Middleton Jr., 90, Lawton, will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. William F. Todd and the Rev. Phil Jones officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.


Born in Oklahoma City in 1917, he died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Lawton. He married Anne Durham in 1938 in Galveston, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1976. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Nail.


He was raised in Pasadena, Texas, and was valedictorian of his high school class. He earned his bachelor’s degree as a biology major from Rice University, where he attended from 1935-1940. 


He worked for AT&SF Railway as a claim agent for 38 years until his retirement in 1979. After residing in Ardmore for 55 years, he moved to Lawton in 2002.
He was active in the Ardmore Community Concert Association, a member of the advisory board of the Goddard Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in Ardmore, a volunteer worker at First United Methodist Church in Ardmore, a perpetual member and organist of Ardmore Masonic Lodge #31, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the McAlester Scottish Rite Consistory, a perpetual member of the India Shrine Temple, a volunteer for the Ardmore Shrine rodeo and dance, a founder of Two Left Feet Dance Club in Ardmore and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lawton.


He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Dana Middleton, Lawton;  and a granddaughter, Jackie, Dallas, Texas.
