Memorial services for Jerry Ann Sullivan, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Eaves officiating.


Born Nov. 16, 1938, in Ardmore to Melvin L. “Hank” Sullivan and Sylvia Anita Gazaway Sullivan, she departed this life Tuesday morning, Aug. 26, 2008, at her house in Lone Grove with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Anita Smith.


Jerry was raised in Wilson, attending school there as part of the class of 1957. After school, she was a devout homemaker for many years and later returned to college at East Central University at the age of 50 and received her teaching degree.


As a teacher, she taught fourth grade at Little Axe, retiring 11 years ago. Before then she was also a teacher’s aide at Wilson public schools working with her best friend, Margie Garrett, for 10 years.


After retiring from teaching, she was employed for two years at Circuit City. Since retiring, she had enjoyed being a full-time Granny to her grandkids and loved reading and also enjoyed the many camping trips with Debby Garrett.


She also had a lifelong love of bluegrass, gospel and country music, and would often sing and entertain at festivals and gatherings.


Survivors include three daughters, Sheryl Wilson and Beth Harris, both of Lone Grove, and Tina Bowerman, of Fox; three brothers, Marvin Sullivan, of Norman, Billy Sullivan and Jimmy Sullivan, both of Wilson; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Sullivan, Billy Sullivan, Marvin Sullivan, A.J. Bowerman, Larry Wilson and Larry Harris.
