The Trade and Industrial division of Career Tech has named Southern Oklahoma Technology Center’s John Ward as the “New Teacher of the Year.”


The Trade and Industrial division of Career Tech has named Southern Oklahoma Technology Center’s John Ward as the “New Teacher of the Year.”


This award recognizes new teachers who have taught for a minimum of three years but not more than five, and have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their career.


The award also qualifies Ward for the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technical Education state award which will be chosen from each division awardees.


Ward is currently in his fourth year of teaching at SOTC.


The Welding Technology program teaches industrial and construction welding.


It offers instruction in the theory and practice of oxy-fuel gas cutting and welding, brazing, arc welding, nomenclature of the equipment and assembly of units, trade terminology, shop mathematics, codes and specifications, estimating and safety.
