Services for Jimmy Wade Burt, 69, will be 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Griffin-Hillcrest Chapel with Pastor Al Green officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.


Born Feb. 3, 1939, in Ringgold, Texas, to Jim and Ruby Burt, he died Sept. 26, 2008, in Ardmore. He was preceded in death by his parents.


He married his sweetheart of 50 years and the love of his life, Joyce Crawford, Oct. 10, 1958, in Brownfield, Texas. They lived in Morton, Texas for seven years, where their two oldest children were born. They moved to Blythe, Calif., where their youngest child was born and raised their family. Jimmy worked as a master craftsman building houses.


They moved to Ardmore in 1998, to be closer to family in their retirement years. He and Joyce worked side by side remodeling their house. His yard always reflected his joy in gardening and yard work. He loved working with his hands and built wood furniture for his family. He first love was the Lord.


He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Timothy Wade Burt, Blythe; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Waymire, Ardmore, and Laurenda Faith Moyer, Sacramento, Calif.; six grandchildren, Charlie Valenciana Jr., Kari Valenciana, Sean Burt, Jonathan Moyer, Christopher Moyer and Zachary Burt; two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Delbert Burt, Gainesville, Texas, and Joe Burt, Ardmore; four sisters, Wanda Jones, Brownfield, Texas, Marcell Boatright, Ardmore, Jean Tarlton, Ardmore, and Charlotte Green, Camden, Ark; and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws.


Bearers are Tim Burt, Joe Burt, Delbert Burt, John Klis, Kenny Tarlton and Al Crawford. Honorary bearer is Scott Moyer.


Visitation is 6-8 p.m. this evening at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home.
