The ECU men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in the top five in Saturday’s Lone Star Conference Championships hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The women finished third with 94 points behind Midwestern State’s 58 and West Texas A&M’s 84. Junior Sarah Reihart (24:00) led the ladies with a 13th-place finish in the 6-kilometer run.

The men’s team could not add on to its streak of six-consecutive runner-up finishes in the LSC Championships. The Tigers took fourth in the 8K with 88 points, led by John Sutrick (24:56), who finished 10th overall to add all-conference status to his LSC All-Academic Team award he picked up on Friday.

Teammate Daniel Kiptoo (25:04) followed in 13th place. Kiptoo also joined John Sutrick on the five-man LSC All-Academic Team, giving ECU more members (2) on the team than any other LSC school.

Abilene Christian swept the race’s top six spots to win the title with 17 points. Tarleton State (77), Texas A&M-Commerce (78), ECU and Angelo State (142) rounded out the top 5. ACU’s Daniel Maina won the individual title in 23:32.
