Graveside services for Doris Mae Alford, 88, will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bettye Elledge officiating.


Born Jan. 18, 1920, in Gene Autry, to James Roy Gravitt and Bernice Mae Roe Gravitt, she died Oct. 28, 2008 in Ardmore. She married C.C. Thomas, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Jerry Don Thomas and Jimmie Charles Thomas.


She attended Gene Autry schools until her marriage to C.C. Thomas, moving to Corpus Christi, Texas. After the marriage ended, she moved back to Ardmore where she became a phone operator for Southwestern Bell, where she retired. She married Marion Deupree “Duke” Alford in 1953. She enjoyed caring for children in the community and looking after the elderly.


Survivors include one daughter, Deloris Lantrip, of Mannsville; six grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
