In July, Madill coach Kevin Roberts will take charge of the East team in the All-State Football game at Tulsa Union.

And he’ll have defensive lineman J.R. Trevino on the roster.

Rosters for the July 31 game were released Tuesday. The Madill pair were the only south-central Oklahomans selected following the Wildcats’ 8-3 playoff season, their best since 1991. It was Roberts’ first season at the helm.

“Let’s just face it, our program is just getting there,” Roberts said. “I didn’t expect anyone to make it (all-state) but he was a kid that everyone ran away from.”

Trevino was named co-defensive lineman of the year in District 3A-2. He had 67 tackles, including six sacks, an interception and three fumble recoveries.

As an offensive tackle, Trevino graded 81 percent.
