A Sulphur man was hospitalized late Thursday after he crashed the vehicle he was driving on U.S. Highway 177 1 1/2 miles north of the community.


A Sulphur man was hospitalized late Thursday after he crashed the vehicle he was driving on U.S. Highway 177 1 1/2 miles north of the community.


The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said David Sean York, 39, was pinned in the wreckage of his 2003 Dodge SUV for about 30 minutes.


He was freed by Sulphur firefighters and taken to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital. York was later transferred to Norman Regional Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment of multiple injuries. His condition was stable.


The crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. There were no passengers in the vehicle.


York was not wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the accident was listed as driving under the influence.
