The Travertine Nature Center, located in the Chickasaw National  Recreation Area, will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day in observance of the holidays and will also be closed Jan. 5 through Jan. 8 in order for center staff to conduct the annual cleaning.

“This four day closure is necessary to complete work on exhibit displays and rearranging existing live animal and other exhibits. We apologize for this inconvenience to park visitors, but look forward to their next visit,” CNRA Superintendent Bruce Noble said.

The center will reopen Jan. 9 with new operating hours. The center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily from now to Memorial Day. Park officials said the summer operating schedule will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day, when the shorter 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule will resume.
