Funeral services for Yvonne S. Rushing will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at 10 a.m. in Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Province Cemetery.


Yvonne was born July 15, 1936 in Emet, OK to Leonard and Anna Mae Smith Scarbrough. She departed this life on Dec. 28, 2008 in Marietta. She married William “Buddy” Rushing in Big Spring, TX on Nov. 3, 1961. She had been a resident of the Ardmore area for the past 28 years, having lived in New York, Texas and Mississippi. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Calvary Baptist Church.


For many years she did office work and later built a greenhouse and a floral business in Tishomingo. Her life was full of finding people to help. She spent years working with developmentally disabled persons at the Carter County Activity Center while developing a recycling program in Ardmore.


She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Buddy and two daughters, Joan Dewees and husband Kenneth, Wichita Falls, TX and Carolyn Gastineau, Ardmore; one son, Stan Rushing and wife Mary, Candler, N.C.; three sisters, Novella Creed, Davenport, FL, Norma Rumbaugh, Tishomingo and Linda Pike, Dallas, TX; 14 grandchildren, Charles Gastineau and wife Ashley, Bobby Gastineau and wife Rikki, Jeffery Gastineau and wife Jessica, Leesha Rushing, Will Rushing, Summer Rushing, Brandy Queen, Christy White and husband Chris, April Howell, Callie Dewees and Harmony Dewees; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Fisher, Timber and Anna Bell Gastineau, Victoria and Jordan Dewees, Landon Queen and A.J. Boyd; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Delma Ray Scarbrough and Clinton Scarbrough; her sister, Brenda Easterwood; and her great-granddaughter, Madlynn Gastineau.


Pallbearers will be Butch Smith, Jared Vanderburg, Matthew James, Anthony James, Buddy Watkins and Chris Keith. Honorary bearers will be Manuel Watkins and Aaron Vanderburg.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Craddock Funeral Home, 525 S. Commerce.
