Police officials are investigating the death of a Lone Grove resident who may have been killed early Saturday morning.

Ceon Jones Jr., a 27-year-old construction worker, died at his home at 390 Fruit St.

Lone Grove Police officials are investigating his death as a homicide because of two incidents that happened the day before, said Lone Grove Police Chief Robert Oldham.

“The circumstances surrounding it, he had gotten into two altercations that day, one of them was with his girlfriend,” Oldham said. “During that altercation he got hit in the head with a beer bottle and later that day he got into an altercation with another gentleman.”

Police officials arrived at Jones’ home at 2:06 a.m. Saturday, about six minutes after his brother contacted the Lone Grove Police Department to report that Jones was not breathing, Oldham said.

“Right now we’re waiting on the medical examiner’s report to determine what he died from. We don’t know if either one of the incidents that occurred that day had to do with him passing away, or if there  was something else going on,” Oldham said.

Jones was pronounced dead at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore. He was transported to Oklahoma City for officials to perform a medical exam and autopsy, according to a police official.

No arrests have been made.

“From my understanding there was nothing unusual. There was a knot on his head from when we assumed he got hit with a bottle. But nothing unusual was seen at the residence to show that foul play had occurred besides the altercations,” he said.

Jones has no prior criminal history in Lone Grove, but he has a lengthy arrest record in Ardmore.

“The Ardmore Police Department has 20  to 30 reports on file since 2000. Some of the allegations range from DUIs, drug offenses and domestic violence offenses,” said Cpl. John Randolph, Ardmore Police Department Public Information.
