Ruben P. Wilson of Tyler, Texas, and formerly of Ardmore, Okla., left this earthly world to go and live forever with his Lord Jesus on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, due to complications of throat cancer. A memorial service will be held at Griffin-Hillcrest in Ardmore, Okla., at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.

He was born July 28, 1930 in Muskogee, Okla., to Jim J. and Bessie E. Wilson. He married Anna Bell Comstock of Earlsboro, Okla., on April 1, 1950 in Fort Smith, Ark.

He worked in various sales and marketing positions until he retired as a result of throat cancer. In 1957 he moved his family to Bell Gardens, Calif., for better employment opportunities.

In 1970 he returned with his wife to work a cattle ranch in Ardmore, Okla. In 2000 he and his wife moved to Tyler, Texas, to be closer to his only living son, Ronald P. Wilson and wife, Kay.

He spent the last years of his life caring for his wife who was battling cancer. He was fortunate to turn his life around and focus on the importance of relationships in the last year following his wife’s death.

Survivors include his son, Ronald and his wife, Kay of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roy Wilson of Downey, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, TX 75701.
