Sitting in her home near State Highway 32, Hattie Pratt reflected on her wealth of memories that span across the past century, but still can’t wait to celebrate a new year.

“I’m looking forward for tomorrow to celebrate, so everything will get going,” she said. “It’s a pretty good day today, and people can just go about and have fun. I just enjoy life and try to go along with what they’re doing.”

Pratt was born on Dec. 16, 1904. And the life-long Marshall County resident is riding off the high of celebrating her 104th year on earth.

Pratt admits that walking is a little difficult at her age, but that hasn’t stopped her from celebrating her birthday with people throughout Marshall County, she said. “It was great, oh they just had a party for me. It was a great day. I’m looking forward to my 105th (birthday).”

She has spent the birthday enjoying times with friends and family, and couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate, she said.

“I’ve had several calls and they take me out to eat so, we had a great time,” she said. “Went out yesterday for lunch again. There were a lot of friends out talking and enjoying everything, so I just do the best I can.”
