The H.F.V. Wilson Community Center will host its first “Hometown Heroes and Heroes of Tomorrow” recognition reception at 6 p.m. Saturday.


The H.F.V. Wilson Community Center will host its first “Hometown Heroes and Heroes of Tomorrow” recognition reception at 6 p.m. Saturday.


Officials will honor and recognize Eric Fields Jr., Kim White and Albert Johnson for their effort to better themselves, which led to their success and helped others along the way.


Also honored will be youth Tré Von Lawson, Maurice Turner, Zinat Turner and Monique Roberts for dedicating years and hours of their time to volunteer at the community center.


The public is invited to join as the community honors these heroes and heroes to come.


The Black History Bowl is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday. Everyone is invited to come support youth between the ages of 8 and 18. Teams will include members of four to five youth from area churches. Prizes will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place teams.
