A bill by Rep. Pat Ownbey that would streamline state government has been cleared by the House Appropriations and Budget Committee.

House Bill 1676 would place the Criminal Justice Resource Center of the Legislative Service Bureau under the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the state attorney general’s office. Ownbey said House Bill 1676 would not hinder the function of the resource center and would save the state money.

“As a conservative, I am looking for ways to streamline government and thereby reduce the expense to Oklahoma taxpayers,” Ownbey, R-Ardmore, said.

House Bill 1676 now heads to the House floor for debate and a vote.
