In the wake of a phone call Tuesday from an Ardmore resident, The Ardmoreite wants people in southern Oklahoma to know there is no one authorized to go door-to-door soliciting newspaper subscriptions.

The individual who contacted the newspaper also contacted the Ardmore Police Department to report this attempted scam.

Circulation Director Joe Hornback said Tuesday the newspaper does not solicit new customers in this manner. He encourages anyone contacted by individuals claiming to sell subscriptions door-to-door to contact the police.

“The Ardmoreite currently does not have any active door-to-door solicitation in progress,” he said.

“The Ardmoreite has received phone calls reporting someone going door-to-door offering to deliver “free” Ardmoreites for a month.  Please do not allow this individual into your home. Immediately close the door and call the police. Any time someone claims to be associated with The Ardmoreite, you can call the circulation department @ 580-221-6592 to verify.”
