Leston Pate Jacks, 71, of Madill, died on Friday, March 27, 2009, at the hospital in Madill. He was born on November 4, 1937 in Madill to the late A.G. Jacks and Virginia Jane Jackson Jacks.
Leston grew up on a small farm north of Madill and attended Madill schools where he graduated in 1956. He later received his Masters Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Leston has worked as a counselor for more than 30 years. He married Johnnie Ruth McClure on June 28, 1959, and she preceded him in death on March 22, 1996. Leston later married Charlotte Ann Caldwell on April 4, 1997, in Dallas, Texas. Leston was a member of the Oakview Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, woodworking, fishing and sports.
He is survived by wife, Charlotte Ann Jacks, Madill; children, Wynne Stowers and husband Rick, Madill, Stewart Jacks and wife Lynnis, Lakeside, Ariz., Amy Bond and husband Stewart, Madill, Beth Berry and husband Greg, Denton, Texas and Brandon Jacks, Madill; step children Julie Hitchcock and husband Kevin, Durant and Lance Glaze and wife Breann Glaze, Madill; 13 grandchildren, Jeffery and Erin Stowers, Spencer (J.L.), Paten, Samuel (James) Bond, Sheldon and Ethan Jacks, Jacob (J.T.), Olivia and Autumn Glaze, Colin Berry, Joshua and Johathan Hitchcock; mother-in-law, Kate Caldwell, Madill; brothers-in-law, John Caldwell and wife Vicki, Whitesboro, Texas, Alan Caldwell and wife Robin, Dallas, Texas.
Leston was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and his aunt Bessie Jacks and uncle Alfred Jacks.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Oakview Baptist Church, Madill, Oklahoma. Neil O’Donnell will officiate the services. Music will be arranged by The Williams Brothers. Interment will be at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Services under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Family hour will be Monday, March 30, 2009 from 7-8 p.m. at the Watts Funeral Home in Madill. Memorials may be made to the Oakview Baptist Church Educational Building Fund.
