  • Dr. Donald Erwin Oxford, DDS

  • Services for Dr. Donald Erwin Oxford, DDS will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Guy Ames officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ben Williams. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.
    Donald Erwin Oxford entered this life May 31, 1933, to Iley Erwin and Mary Irene (Ethridge) Oxford in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He entered into rest April 2, 2009, in Davis, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years.
    Don was raised in Ardmore and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1951. In 1954, he graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and from Baylor Dental School in Dallas, Texas in 1957. He married his beloved wife, Sandra June Mason October 3, 1959, and they started their life together in Midwest City, Oklahoma. In 1970, they moved to Davis, Oklahoma where they raised their daughters and he continued his dental practice. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. 
    Dr. Oxford was a member of the Oklahoma Dental Association and was awarded for 50 years of service in 2007. He was an active member of Davis First United Methodist Church where he enjoyed serving as mission’s chair. He had a love of serving others and could often be found supporting the Davis Volunteer Fire Department as well as other organizations in the community.
    Don retired from private dental practice in 2006, but continued working with the dental hygiene students at OU Dental Hygiene Clinic in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
    He was preceded by his parents, Iley and Mary Oxford, a brother, James Oxford, and a sister, Nelda Long.     
    He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; daughters, Carol Edwards and husband, Scott, of Franklin, Tennessee, Lyndi McCulloch and husband, Andy, of Winsboro, Texas, and Donna Williams and husband, Tom, of Choctaw, Oklahoma; grandsons, Scott Freeman, Taylor Freeman, Mason Williams, and Garet Williams; and a niece, Mary Diane Long of Ardmore, Oklahoma.   
    Bearers will be the Davis Volunteer Fire Department.
    In Lieu of flowers donation may be made to: Davis Fireman’s Building Fund, 301 E. Main St., Davis, OK 73030.
    Services are under the direction of Krien Funeral Home of Davis, Oklahoma.
