Funeral services for Wayne Anson McPherson, 77, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with full military honors.


Funeral services for Wayne Anson McPherson, 77, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with full military honors.


Born on October 29, 1931, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Jessie Johnson McPherson and passed away on April 24, 2009, at the local hospital.


Mr. McPherson had been a lifelong Ardmore resident having graduated from Ardmore High School. He served in the United States Army retiring after 24 years 10 months and 4 days. Mr. McPherson received the Good Conduct Medal, 5th Award, Bronze Star Medal and Two Overseas Bars. After retiring he then went to work at Michelin North America where he was a mechanic. He loved fishing, cats, dogs and most of all kids. Wayne was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his brother, Eddie McPherson and wife Gayle of Ardmore; several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald McPherson and a sister, Dona Selvidge.


Honorary bearers will be Joseph Hobson, Ronald Hobson, Mike Hobson, Michael McPherson, Fred Vinson and Allen McDonald.


The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 2-3 p.m.


In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorials to be made to the Salvation Army.
