With the Lone Grove tornado and the recent wildfires in western Carter County hitting particularly close to home, Pat Whitener, chapter manager of the American Red Cross of South Central Oklahoma, is looking for additional trained volunteers to enhance the agency’s ability to respond to disasters and emergencies.


With the Lone Grove tornado and the recent wildfires in western Carter County hitting particularly close to home, Pat Whitener, chapter manager of the American Red Cross of South Central Oklahoma, is looking for additional trained volunteers to enhance the agency’s ability to respond to disasters and emergencies.


The Red Cross is conducting free certified disaster training for volunteers from 1 to 5 p.m. or from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday at the Red Cross office at 1006 Northwest Blvd. in Ardmore. This course is a perquisite for all other disaster courses.
