SFC William Victor “Bill” Christison, 63, of Dickson, Okla., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his home in Dickson. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Okla., with Chaplain James Abernathy officiating and special music by Shayne Lewis.


SFC William Victor “Bill” Christison, 63, of Dickson, Okla., passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at his home in Dickson. Graveside services will be Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, Okla., with Chaplain James Abernathy officiating and special music by Shayne Lewis.


Bill was born on July 14, 1945, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Herman Roscoe Christison and Lena Elizabeth Thornton Christison. He was raised in Indianapolis and later joined the United States Army, where he served for 20 years and nine months. Bill lived in Kentucky for several years before he married Vicki Lee Finch on July 28, 1989, in Denison, Texas. They moved to Mount Pleasant, Texas, where they lived for 4 years before moving to Madill in 1992 where they lived for 14 years. They have lived the past 3 years in Dickson.


Bill was a volunteer at the Marshall Memorial Hospital and was President of the Pink Ladies for 5 years. He was a member of the Patriot Guard Riders for 3 years, the Masonic Lodge in Madill, the Shriners in Ardmore and the DAV. Bill enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, knitting, studying the Bible, camping and traveling. He enjoyed his dogs, Molli, Reece and Lola, and loved his grandkids.


While serving in the United States Army, he received the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal -6th Awd, Army Service Ribbon, 2 Overseas Service Ribbons, 3 NCO Professional Development Ribbons, USA Gold RCTE Badge with 3 Sapphire Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Rifle M-16 SPS, NDSM, RVNCM, GCMDL 5TH AWD, AFEM, RVNCC W/PALM, GOLD RCTR BDG, VSM, ARCOM, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st and 2nd Awd), Sharpe Shooter Rifle M14, Expert Badge Pistol .45 (2) O/S Bars, USA RCTR BADGE and (3) SVC STRIPES.                


He is survived by his wife, Vicki Christison, Dickson, Okla.; children, Vicky Nassif, Indiana, Jeffrey Christison, Indiana, Jason Christison, Kansas, and Charles Paul Finch, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren, Lindsey, Lainey, Amanda, Christina, Mason, Taryn, Joshua, Meghan, Shelby and Kaiya; mother, Lena Smith, Madill, Okla.; sister, Sharon Rhyme, Indiana; and nieces and nephew, Denise Riemenschneider, Texas, Dennis Christison, Washington, Susan Camargo, California, Kim Vitha, California, Jane Alexander, Indiana, and Sharon Dorsett, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Richard Christison; and one son, Jamey Don Finch.


Visitation will be from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Friday, May 29 at Watts Funeral Home in Madill. Family hour will be from 6 to 8 p.m. 


Casket bearers will be the Patriot Guard Riders of Oklahoma with Military Honors by the United States Army.
