Funeral services for Evelyn Worthen will be Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Alton Fannin will officiate.


Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.


Evelyn was born in Greenwood, Ark. on Nov. 13, 1920, to Clarence and Flora Stewart Knox.  She departed this life at her home on Jan. 23, 2010. She was preceded in joining the Lord by her infant son, her brother Ronald and her parents.


At an early age her family moved to Illinois where she grew up an attended school. Her early education was in nursing and later in the field of business.  She was the office manager for Glen Oak Manufacturing Plants located in Ardmore, Marietta, Madill, Ringling, and Crowley, Jennings and Rayne, LA.


Evelyn was united in marriage to her life long love Lyndell Worthen on Dec. 27, 1941 at Cape Girardeau. Mo.  Into this union was born three sons, the first died at birth.  Ronald and Lyndell, Jr. came later.


The family moved to Ardmore 46 years ago from Forrest City, Ark. Evelyn gave her heart to the Lord at and early age and was an active church member all her life. She became a member of the First Baptist Church, Ardmore in March of 1964. She served as a Sunday school teacher, on various committees, director of Acteen and as Sunday school department assistant. While living in Arkansas she was active in the Professional Women’s Club. She focused on her church, her family and her grandchildren.


She is survived by her husband, Lyndell of the home; Two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Kathy Worthen, Ardmore and Dr. Lyndell, Jr. and Mary Worthen, El Dorado, Ark; Four Granddaughters, Dr. Tamara Worthen Lytkowski and husband Dr. William, Ardmore, Laura Worthen Lodes and  husband  Lance, Oklahoma City,  Robyn Worthen Hunsucker and husband Louis, Jenks and Tandra Worthen, Ardmore.  One Grandson, Dr. Phillip Worthen and wife Allison, Little Rock, Ark.  Five Great Grandchildren, Lillian Lodes, Knox Hunsucker, Parker Hunsucker, Lyndell P. Worthen, IV, and Caroline Worthen.  Her sister-in-law, Bessie Knox, Royalton, Ill., nephew, Ron Knox and wife Pat, Royalton, Ill., Brother –in-law Loren Worthen and wife Kathy, Granite City, Ill. And Sister-in-law, Lillian Worthen Jackson, West Frankfurt, Ill. Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.


Pall Bearers will be Walter McAnally, Howard Guyer, Bob Cargil, Bill Jobe, Dr. Garland Clay and Raymon McVay.  Honorary bearers will be the members of the adult 5 means Sunday school class and Tommy Powell.


Memorials maybe made to the First Baptist Church, Ardmore or the Baptist Children’s Home, Madill.
