Mary Nezrie Baker, 72, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at her home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010, in the Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with the Reverend Harold Hunt and Reverend Frank Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.


Mary Nezrie Baker, 72, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, at her home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Nezrie was born January 15, 1938, in Colt, Arkansas, to Walter Haywood Riggs and Mary Alma (Turrell) Riggs.   She married Chester W. Baker on October 26, 1966, in West Memphis, Tenn.
Nezrie worked for the Ardmore City School System for 30 years as a secretary at Charles Evans Elementary. She also volunteered at Mercy Memorial Health Center and was a member of the Mannsville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and loved The Lord. She enjoyed reading and working on puzzles. She will be remembered for her humor and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.

Nezrie is survived by her son, Ted Baker and wife Terri of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Alexis Baker of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and Bryan Culwell of Denton, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Bryson, Ventura, Brady and Landon Culwell, all of Denton, Texas.
