Graveside Services for Mrs. Luella (Carlisle) Shockley Tucker, 98, of Wilson are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Hewitt Cemetery with Rev. Jason Langley officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Luella was born March 23, 1911, at Portales, New Mexico, to the late Mr. Ira Pierson Carlisle and Mrs. Lucinda Ann (Smith) Carlisle. She departed this life Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Ardmore.
Luella and her family moved to Wilson in 1920. She completed school at Wilson and was the valedictorian of both her eighth grade class and her graduating class. Luella was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson and served as the organist for many years. She was greatly loved and honored by her friends and family and well respected throughout the community of Wilson.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husbands, Medford Shockley and Vernon Tucker; sister, Lois Carlisle; brother, Ray Carlisle; and niece Kitty Ray Piland.

Survivors include her nephew, Thomas W. Carlisle and wife Patricia of College Station, Texas; niece, Sara Guthrie of Blytheville, Ark.; and numerous great nephews and great nieces.
