Funeral services for Edith Marie Parnell, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Jimmy May and Rev. Terry Tolbert. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Daughter of the late James and Mary Elizabeth (O’Dell) Standfill, Edith was born Oct. 16, 1922, at Pauls Valley, Okla. An Ardmore resident most of her life, she died Friday, March 19, 2010, in an Ardmore health care facility.

She and Tom Dar Parnell were married in September of 1937, at Wapanucka, Okla.

Tom died in 1976.  Also preceding her in death were her parents; and her son, Tommy Parnell, who died Oct. 23, 2000.

Of the Baptist faith, Edith was a former member of the Ardmore Square Dance Club and the Ardmore Round-Up Club. She was employed at the Ardmore High School cafeteria for 18 years. Among her favorite pleasures was the time she spent fishing and hunting.

Survivors include her daughter, Edith I. Dodson, Ardmore; sister, Mary Lou Lewis, Ardmore; a brother, Ozzie Parnell, Sulphur; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as bearers will be Jackey Brown, John Cargal, Willie Parnell, Louis Vaughn, Rex and Jamie Conway.

A time of visitation and support for family and friends is scheduled for this evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
