  • Funeral services for Billie Jean Shephard, 76, will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Reverend Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery.

  • Funeral services for Billie Jean Shephard, 76, will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Reverend Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery.
    The daughter of the late Bill and Murtey Phipps Vaughn was born on March 22, 1934, and passed away on March 30, 2010, at the Durant, Oklahoma hospital.
    Mrs. Shephard had been a resident of the Lone Grove area most of her life. She began a lengthy career in the dry-cleaning business with Excelsior Laundry and then with Cook’s Laundry. Mrs. Shephard worked on the wiring line at the Ardmore Airbase with Stromberg Carlson for a period of time. In 1980 Mrs. Shephard moved to Fort Worth and started working with the River Oaks Laundry & Dry Cleaners where she retired in 1988.
    Mrs. Shephard moved back to Lone Grove until she moved to Durant where she had been living the past 10 years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting afghans for her family as well as watching football with her sons. Her main love was being around her family and friends.
    She is survived by her sons, Arley Craddock and wife, Joyce of Wilson, Okla., Alvin Craddock and wife, Connie of Newark, Texas, Lonnie Craddock and wife, Lisa of Durant, Okla., and “Hoppie” Ervin Craddock and wife, Brenda of Ardmore, Okla.; brothers, Raymond Vaughn of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Louis Vaughn of Duncan, Okla., Dan Vaughn of Dickson, Okla., Don Vaughn of Lone Grove, Okla., Frankie Vaughn of Marietta, Okla., Sammie Vaughn of Lone Grove, Okla., and Rickey Vaughn of Pampa, Texas; sister, Lois Southerland of Lone Grove, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, many friends.
    Pallbearers will be Arley Craddock, Alvin Craddock, Lonnie Craddock, Ervin Craddock, William Craddock Jr., Dale Craddock and Cody DeMoss. Honorary bearers will be Phillip Howell, Rickey Vaughn, Raymond Vaughn, Louis Vaughn, Frankie Vaughn, and Dan Vaughn.
    The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Saturday evening from 5-7 p.m.
