More than 200 horses are expected to compete for awards and bragging rights in an array of halter and performance classes. The Red River Shootout is recognized as one of the premier local shows approved by the American Miniature Horse Association. A number of AMHA World Champions will be shown, and potential future World Champions will compete for their place in the industry.

The Red River Shootout Show began in 2005 as a cooperative effort of the Oklahoma Miniature Horse Club and the Southwest Miniature Horse Club and took place in Wichita Falls, Texas.

“With its move to Ardmore in 2010, we expect to continue to offer the highest quality competition and entertainment for exhibitors and visitors,” said Jerry Horn, speaking on behalf of the OMHCI and the SWMHC.

Horn, an owner and 71-year-old exhibitor himself, said, “We love to talk about horses and tell you our story of how we got involved in this wonderful adventure. And, while we have put hours and hours of time into preparing these horses for the show ring, we just enjoy the competition and the opportunity to share our passion with others.”

For the first time, in conjunction with the Red River Shootout Shows, an auction of top-quality miniature horses will be conducted live and also with Internet viewing and bidding. The auction will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The OK Corral Classic Miniature Horse Auction will be offered by Double Diamond Promotions of Warsaw, Ind.

According to Horn, these are beautiful, well-proportioned horses that reflect the greatest care and highest quality attention, and he invites both the curious and the most knowledgeable horse person to visit the Red River Shootout Miniature Horse Show.
