Two people were arrested late Thursday in connection with Monday night’s home invasion-robbery at a northeast side residence that accelerated into the slaying of an Ardmore man.

Sgt. Eric Hamblin, Ardmore Police Department Public Information Officer, said William B. Brown, 27, and an unnamed 16-year-old were booked into the Carter County Detention Center on pending charges of first-degree murder in connection with the gunshot death of Eric Knight, and first-degree burglary.

Hamblin refused to comment on whether Brown or the teenager are believed to have been the person who pulled the trigger on the gun that claimed Knight’s life.

“We do anticipate more arrests will be made in this case. This is an ongoing investigation,” he said.

Hamblin said concerned citizens have played a major role in the investigation into Knight’s murder.

“We have received numerous tips and information from the public since Monday night. We appreciate that and we hope those tips will continue,” he said.

Hamblin also commended the investigators probing the circumstances that led to the home invasion-robbery turned murder.

“The APD investigators have worked nearly around the clock for the past three days. They’ve done an outstanding job,” he said. “We also are very appreciative of the assistance we have received from the Carter County Sheriff’s Department.

Knight, 36, died when a group of armed men forced their way into a house, located in the 900 block of Roff Street. Knight was one of five people inside the house when the attack began.

“The suspects robbed the victims and at some point shots were fired. Mr. Knight died at the scene,” Hamblin said from the scene shortly after the murder occurred.

The other four victims, identified as three men and one woman, managed to flee the residence unharmed.
