Funeral services for Don “Ted” Brown, 77, will be held Monday April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with Dr. Virgil Trout and Reverend Dewayne Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.


Funeral services for Don “Ted” Brown, 77, will be held Monday April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with Dr. Virgil Trout and Reverend Dewayne Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

 

The son of Joe and Vera Cowden Brown, Ted was born October 31, 1932, in Alpers, Oklahoma, and passed away April 22 at his Lone Grove residence.

 

Ted was united in marriage to Mary Jo Clark on July 4, 1951. To this union two children were born, Teddye Jo and David Wayne. 

 

A 1950 graduate of Woodland High School, Ted was Vice President and Co-owner of the Joe Brown Company. He started working for them after graduating high school and retired in February 1998. Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a Charter member of B.A.S.S., and served as a board member of the Oklahoma Ready Mix and Concrete Association, Oklahoma Sand and Gravel Association and the Association of General Contractors of America. He attended both the Lone Grove First Baptist Church and Northwest Baptist Church

 

Ted is survived by his children, Wayne and his wife, Susan of Ardmore, and Teddye Jo and her husband, Wayne Gray of The Colony, Texas; brothers, Bert Brown and wife Ruth of Blum, Texas; Dale Brown of Oklahoma City; sisters, Maxine Bumgarner of Kennewick, Wash.; Bernice King and husband, Jim of Oklahoma City, Fern Primrose of Davis, Okla., and his twin sister, Dot Wells of Norman, Okla.;  sisters-in-laws, Betsy Brown of Hennepin, Dorothy Brown of Davis,  and Margaret Brown, Ardmore; brother-in-law, Jackie Reece of Tecumseh, Okla.; grandchildren, Brandy Williams and husband, Matt of Cambridge, Kan., Chad Brown and wife, Sara of Ardmore, Amber Matlack and husband, Ryan of Greenville, SC, and Dustin Gray of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bowdy and Addyson Williams, Kate and Ally Brown, and Ava and Ren Matlack.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joe D., James, Gene and Clifford Brown, and sister Rachel Reece

 

Serving as bearers will be Matt Williams, Chad Brown, Dustin Gray, Bowdy Williams, Gene Wallis and Red Langford.

 

A time of visitation and support for the family will be held today from 3 till 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
