Two players each from Madill’s boys and girls soccer teams have earned All-State status.

Derek Martinez and Roberto Guadian, who have led the Madill boys team to the District 4A-2 championship, will play June 10 in the Oklahoma Soccer Coaches Association All-State games in Tulsa, the exact location to be named. Joining them from Madill will be Ashley Winchester, who recently signed with Dodge City (Kan.) Community College, and Maria Flores.

“It tells that the program is growing, the kids are working hard,” said Jose Cortes, who coaches both Madill teams. “They are very coachable players, and I really just have a small amount of influence. They’re the ones who make it happen. It’s their dedication that allows them to make All-State.”

Martinez has seven goals and five assists this season. He’s totaled 27 goals and 24 assists for his four-year career.

Guadian has netted three of his 16 career goals and made 12 of 32 assists this season.

Winchester finished her two-year Wildcat career with 99 saves and 23 goals allowed. She registered 45 saves and had 12 goals against her this season.

Flores kicked two goals and three assists, but averaged almost nine goals per season. She matched her average in assists this year.

The Madill boys team (10-3), coming off the team’s first district title, will host the winner of the Weatherford at Heritage Hall wild-card game at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Wildcat girls finished 4-9.
