James Belton Harlin, Jr., 86 died June 13, 2010, at Ada, Oklahoma. James was born December 1, 1923, at Durant, Oklahoma, to the late James Belton and Sarah Frances (Moore) Harlin, Sr. 


James Belton Harlin, Jr., 86 died June 13, 2010, at Ada, Oklahoma. James was born December 1, 1923, at Durant, Oklahoma, to the late James Belton and Sarah Frances (Moore) Harlin, Sr.  

 

James had lived in Nevada and California most of his life, where he had been an electrician and restaurant owner.   Following his retirement he moved to the Ardmore area in 1985.  

 

During World War II James served in the Army Air Corps; he was a waist gunner on B-17 Bombers.
He and the former Margaret Beatrice “Maggie” Ransberger were married March 18, 1978, at Henderson, Nevada. Maggie preceded him in death August 24, 2003.

 

James was proud of his Native American Heritage; he was a member of the Chickasaw tribe.
A special thank you to family, friends and the medical personnel of the Chickasaw Nation for ministering to his needs. Jim, you will be missed.

 

Survivors include his children, Carol Rose Leless, Sharon May Espiau, Roxanna Jane Newsom, Susan Jean Mayes and Steven Greg Harlin; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Douglas, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Curtis Harlin and Charles Harlin; sisters, Irene Fisher and Glinda Wheeler; special friend, Jeannean Sands; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial services will be conducted in California at a later date.  

 

Local arrangements were under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home and Crematory.
