Roma Kathryn Robertson, 79, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 21, 2010, in Tahlequah, Okla., after an extended illness. Roma was born July 8, 1930, in Newkirk, Okla., to Easley and Kathryn Austin.


Roma Kathryn Robertson, 79, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 21, 2010, in Tahlequah, Okla., after an extended illness. Roma was born July 8, 1930, in Newkirk, Okla., to Easley and Kathryn Austin.

 

Upon graduation from Buhler Rural High School in Buhler, Kan., she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone. While working there, Roma met Jean P. “Robbie” Robertson. They were married on January 14, 1954, in Hutchinson, Kan., and together had three children. Their young family settled in the Houston, Texas, area and over the years eventually moved to Tulsa, Okla. Roma, a devoted wife and mother, dedicated her life to providing a loving home and raising her family.

 

Roma was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Robertson; and her parents.

 

She is survived by daughter, Cathy Melton and her husband, Dr. Mark Melton of Ardmore, Okla.; daughter, Robin Johnson and her husband, Bobby Johnson of Tahlequah, Okla.; son, Mark Robertson and his wife, Cindi Robertson of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Verna Fell of Topeka, Kan., and Mary Dean House and her husband, Melvin House of Manhattan, Kan.; and brother, Jim Austin and wife, Deloris Austin of Springfield, Mo. Also surviving Roma are her grandchildren including grandson, Aaron Melton and his wife, Candiance and their children, Constance, Austin and Camden; grandson, Scott Brumley; granddaughter, Melissa Gugino and her husband, Rick and their sons, Dylan and Nicholas; granddaughter, Denise Weaver and her husband, Matt; granddaughter, Sarah Robertson; grandson, David Johnson and his wife, Kristen and granddaughter, Maribeth Melton; and many other family members and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Cherokee, 1630 North Cedar Avenue, Tahlequah, OK 74464.

 

Services will be Friday, June 25, 2010, at 3 p.m., Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK.
