Johnny (John) Ray Henley, 69, of Wilson, Okla., passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2010. He was born September 11, 1940, in Wilson, Okla., to the late Edgar and Pauline Henley.


Johnny (John) Ray Henley, 69, of Wilson, Okla., passed away Saturday morning, June 26, 2010. He was born September 11, 1940, in Wilson, Okla., to the late Edgar and Pauline Henley.

 

John was a lifelong Wilson resident who loved his family and enjoyed working on his farm. He especially enjoyed raising cattle and working in his garden. John spent many of his early years working in the oil fields before becoming employed with Sinclair which later became Atlantic Richfield Company from which he retired after 30 ½ years.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Laverne Ellen Henley; daughter, Cathy Epley and husband, Dennis of Seadrift, Texas; son, Randy Henley and wife, Aremma of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Dara Pierce and husband, Brent of Orange Grove, Texas, Sara Koski of Santa Maria, Calif., Brittany Henley of Gretna, La., and Darel Epley of Seadrift, Texas; sisters, Pearl Reynolds of Duncan, Okla., and Evelyn Smith of Wilson, Okla.; and brother, Earnest Henley and wife, Sue of Garland, Texas.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepfather, Floyd Keith of Wilson, Okla.

 

A memorial service was held Monday, June 28, 2010, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca, Texas.

 

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore, Okla.
