Betty Sue Vick, 84, passed away October 24, 2010, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born June 12, 1926, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to John Alexander and Mary Elizabeth McKee Brittain.

 


Betty Sue Vick, 84, passed away October 24, 2010, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was born June 12, 1926, in Wilson, Oklahoma, to John Alexander and Mary Elizabeth McKee Brittain.

 

Betty attended schools at Wilson, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Class of 1944. After that, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University and returned to Ardmore where she was employed by the Hudson Houston Lumber Company.

 

Betty married Neal A. Vick September 5, 1948, in Wilson, Oklahoma. Their son, Michael Neal was born January 19, 1953, in Norman, Oklahoma, where they made their home for several years. Neal was a Management Analyst with the Federal Aviation Administration in Oklahoma City and Betty was the Executive Secretary of the J.H. Holland Company as well as a devoted homemaker, wife and mother.

 

They were active members of the First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma, where Betty served as Sunday School Department Secretary. She was an active member of the Town and Country Neighborhood Organization, the Woodslawn Garden Club and the Legacy Antique Club. She also loved helping Neal with  Boy Scouts serving as Den Mother.

 

Her husband and son preceded her in death, as well as, her brothers, Walter, Willie, Roy Lee and Edward Brittain; and her sisters, Velma Prout, Annabelle Witter and Mae Godfrey.

 

She is survived by her grandson, Conner Vick and daughter-in-law, Walliss Anne Vick of Fort Worth, Texas; her nieces, Judy Godfrey, Jane Marshall and husband, Phillip of Ardmore, Okla., Patricia Vick and husband, Christian of Paris, France, and Anita Stalls of Santa Fe, N.M.; nephews, Jim Godfrey and wife, Pam of Okmulgee, Okla., Karl Witter and wife, Pat of Dripping Springs, Texas, Don Witter and wife, Mary of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Bill Brittian and wife, Donna of Yoakum, Texas, Raymond Brittain of New Braunfels, Texas, Dennis Brittain of Blanchard, Okla., Donald Brittain of Oklahoma City, and Jim Lancaster and wife, Paulette of Carmel, Ind.; and sister-in-law, Barbara Vick of Ardmore, Okla.

 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in The Chapel of The Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman, Oklahoma. Burial will conclude in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma, under the direction of The Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
