Ardmore Fraternal Order of Police will sponsor the group’s annual Barbecue Lunch to Benefit Shop With Cops Friday at City Hall.

The lunch features a chopped barbecue sandwich, chips and a soda. Cost is $5 per person. Delivery service is available for orders of five or more for an additional $2 charge. Order and delivery service is available by calling (580) 222-5739.

Each year the local FOP sponsors the Shop With Cops, which targets needy children who will not be served by other agencies featuring holiday programs.

Each child selected for Shop With Çops receives $100 and is treated to a ride in a police car to a local store, where they ‘shop with a cop’ to make their Christmas wishes come true.

FOP Vice President, Officer Barry Antwine, said most of the children selected for the program not only buy items they want, they also select gifts for family members.

“We are still working toward obtaining enough to meet our quota of serving 100 children. We always hope to serve more than that, but the economy plays a role in what we are able to do. So this year we have not increased our original goal of 100 children,” Antwine said. “All proceeds from Friday’s sandwich lunch will go toward the program.”

Those wishing to make a contribution to the program can contact police headquarters at (580) 223-1212.

Applications for selection into the program will be available at the police department Nov. 1. Application deadline is Nov. 26.

Shop With Cops will be Dec. 8-10.
