Graveside rites for Geneva Pearl (Richards) Long, 78, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2010, at the Lone Cedar Cemetery with Mr. Ben Bailey officiating.

 

The daughter of the late Levi Gilliam and Myrtle Pearl (Langston Gilliam), Geneva was born on October 13, 1932, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Geneva passed away on November 14, 2010, in Springdale, Arkansas.

 

She and Oscar Richards were married and had four children. Later she married Russell Long, who preceded her in death.

 

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Jean Gilliam, Myrtle Pennington, Mildred Pennington and Shirley Bryant; and brother, T.D. Gilliam.

 

A lifelong resident of Ardmore, Geneva moved to Arkansas four years ago due to her health. She was retired from Stromberg-Carlson where she worked on the assembly line repairing telephones. Geneva was an animal lover, enjoyed cross-stitch and writing poems and songs. She was of the Church of Christ Faith and enjoyed reading her Bible.

 

She is survived by her sons, Jim Richards and his wife, Teresa, Springdale, Arkansas, Phillip Richards of Ardmore and Wallace Richards, Ardmore; daughters, Sheila Terry and husband, William, Pampa, Texas and Aleshia Richards Long, Springdale, Arkansas; one brother, J.T. Gilliam and wife, Billie, Irving, Texas; one sister-in-law, Joyce Gilliam, Ardmore; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Bryant, Ardmore; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home this evening from 5-7 p.m.
