Mr. and Mrs. Guy T. Ledbetter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 17, 2011.

This beautiful pairing began 50 years ago when Midge Henderson, a high school senior, met her true love and former Ardmore High School quarterback at Lake Murray Lodge, where Guy T. was playing guitar after a dance. They recall that their first date cost them 10 cents for two A&W Root Beers.

This unity began a short while later at Northeast Baptist Church in Ardmore on Feb. 17, 1961.
In the beginning years of their marriage, Guy T. and Midge relocated to New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana for Guy T.’s employment. They happily returned to their hometown of Ardmore with three daughters, Laura Dawn Ledbetter, Rachelle Graham and Robyn Sowders, and are now known as Papa and Mimi to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The Ledbetters also owned and operated The Edge Nightclub and Time Out Restaurant and Lounge and are currently loving retirement.

Marriages so seldom last and many friends placed bets that it wouldn’t last six months. But the Ledbetters have surely proven them wrong. This couple has endured hardships, booms and busts, but has remained the glue of the family.

They enjoy traveling to Shreveport, Bossier City, the Blues Festival in Memphis, playing cards and golf every day. They are enjoying their retired time with their two shih tzu dogs (Katie and Sugar) and enjoy spending time with friends.

It has been a 50-year gamble and they continue to roll the dice every day.
