Goody’s is returning to Mountain View Mall, although it will be operating under new ownership.

The retailer is now part of the Stage family, which includes more than 780 stores operating under the Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, Peebles and Stage trade names.

Stage Stores Inc. features moderately priced, nationally recognized brand-name and private-label apparel, accessories, cosmetics and footwear for the entire family. Goody’s features brand names like Chaps, Dockers, Levi’s, Izod, Clinique, Specialty Girl, Lee and Reebok. The company also has a Stage store in Ardmore Commons.

Store Manager Elena Segroves said Goody’s will open at 9 a.m. on March 17 following an 8:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. She is now interviewing for both management and sales associate positions and will accept applications through March 7.

“The space has been remodeled with fresh paint, trim and carpeting,” she said. “Our shoe department will be totally different.”

Stage purchased the Goody’s name after Goody’s Family Clothing went out of business in 2009. The company’s corporate headquarters are in Houston, and it employs approximately 13,000 workers. Stage anticipates opening between 35 and 40 stores in 2011.
