Ardmore AARP Chapter 2217 President Barney Allen announced that the February chapter meeting will be changed to Monday, due to the group’s trip to the State Capitol on Feb. 28.

Members will meet at the usual time, 10:30 a.m., at the Sirloin Stockade on North Commerce Street. All seniors 50 or older are invited to attend.

AARP was formed in 1958 by Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, a retired educator who saw the need of benefits for senior citizens. She also was the founder of the Retired Teachers Association.

AARP chapters were formed across the country to work to better their communities in many ways. The motto is “ To serve, not to be served.”
