Carter County Master Gardeners met Feb. 7 for its monthly meeting at the OSU Extension Office. Fifteen members were present at the regular meeting following an executive board meeting.

Main topics presented for discussion were the new shirts being ordered for CCMG and the upcoming Spring Garden Show. The Master Gardeners’ Spring Garden Show will take place on April 2 at Heritage Hall this year. Master Gardeners are busy securing local vendors specializing in garden- and horticulture-related products and information.

Steve Owens, former host of the “Oklahoma Gardening” TV program and owner of Bustani Plant Farm in Stillwater, will be the guest speaker this year. Owens specializes in native Oklahoma plants, and his topic will be “Native and Adapted Plants for Oklahoma Landscaping.”

It was reported that the Master Gardener class currently being conducted at SOTC with 25 students enrolled is going according to plan. With the state of the economy and the price of gasoline, more people are deciding to stay home and enjoy their own yards by planting vegetable gardens and beautifying their landscapes.

Carter County Master Gardener meetings are open to everyone.
