Ardmore’s Evan McGee and Madill’s Isaac Green each qualified for finals matches today at the OSSAA wrestling state tournament at the State Fairgrounds Arena.


Ardmore’s Evan McGee and Madill’s Isaac Green each qualified for finals matches today at the OSSAA wrestling state tournament at the State Fairgrounds Arena.

McGee won both of his matches via falls on Friday. The junior heavyweight pinned Josh Friend of Grove in 5 minutes, 1 second, then beat Guthrie’s John Davison in 5:19 in the semifinals. McGee is looking to bring home Ardmore’s first state championship since Michael Reed won the heavyweight division in 2009.

Green won an 11-4 decision over Brock Hubble of Cushing and a 9-5 decision over Harley Tillerson of Locust Grove to make the 189-pound final in Class 4A. Gree will face Logan Byrd of Sallisaw later today.
