Celebrating the life of Karen Sue Skelton will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Healdton under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oil Springs Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Kent Stewart.

Karen was born on May 29, 1950 in Ardmore to Howard and Opal Engle. She went home to her Lord and Saviour on February 26, 2011. Karen attended school in Healdton and Artesia, N.M. She married Rick Madron on June 23, 1967 in Artesia and of this marriage they were blessed with a son. After a number of years, she moved back to Healdton.

While working with her mother at Opal’s Café she met her soul mate, she and Wayne Skelton were married on February 28, 1986 and she became Mom to his two daughters. In 2002 they were blessed with their special daughter, Hannah.

Karen was a very loving and giving person never expecting anything in return.

She was always ready and willing to help anyone with anything or drive anyone to the Doctor or anywhere else they needed to go. She and Wayne became foster parents to many children, then later became parents to several exchange students. Each week, one day was set for her and her sister-in-law Betty, to get their hair done, go eat lunch and go shopping. She also loved genealogy and playing monopoly with her brothers. For years she loved to crochet, always giving away her beautiful afghans, wall hangings or anything else she made, telling Wayne that it wouldn’t be fun if she sold them, that the giving is what made it fun.

Most of all she loved spending time with Wayne and Hannah.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Tommy Engle and nephew Michael Engle.

Survivors include husband Wayne of the home, three daughters, Hannah Skelton of the home, Connie Kuhlman and husband Bill of Oklahoma City and Tammy Stewart and husband Kent of Paoli. One son, Christopher Madron of Artesia, N.M. Also two brothers and wives, Lavell and Betty Engle of Healdton and Mike and Bonita Engle of Altus, a sister-in-law Sue Engle of Mustang, six grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Bennie, Tommy and Willie Skelton and grandsons, Jessie Cox, Levi Stetler and Will Stewart.

Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Chatham and all Chatham Dozer employees.
Visitation will be Monday February 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.
