A domestic argument escalated into a violent episode that included a man being stabbed late Tuesday night.

Patrick Callaghan, 55, was admitted to Healdton Hospital and airlifted to OU Medical Center with two stab wounds to his left side and one in the arm. Upon investigation, his grandson Dustin Davidson was arrested pending a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. A 48-hour affidavit has been placed on the case pending further investigation by the District Attorney’s office.

In speaking with Healdton Officer Tim Woodruff, Callaghan said that he had a few beers and got into an argument with his wife, Margie Callaghan, and his grandson, Davidson, who stabbed him with a knife. After finding the keys to his vehicle, which he said were hidden from him, Callaghan drove himself to the hospital.

Woodruff, along with Sgt. Brian Walker and Officer Johnny Denny went to Callaghan’s residence. After gaining voluntary consent to search the premises, Woodruff found recovered evidence including a knife. Margie Callaghan indicated that Davidson was trying to protect her and said that her husband had physically assaulted her. She was transported to the Healdton Police Department where she gave a statement.

Davidson was transported to Carter County Detention Center where he remained as of Wednesday afternoon.
