  • Two more drive-by shootings in Ardmore Monday and Tuesday have raised the year’s total to 23, but information about those involved in the accelerating gunfire spree remains sketchy.
Sgt. Ryan Hunnicutt, Ardmore Police Department public information officer, said shots were fired at a southeast side residence early Monday, but it was hours before the incident was reported to police.
The shooting occurred about 2:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Burton Street.
“A neighbor reported it about 3:25 p.m.,” Hunnicutt said.
Officers collected 14 casings from a 9 mm gun at the scene. Three bullets struck the residence.
But the physical evidence collected is the only thing investigators have been able to obtain. Information from the victim, potential witnesses or those in-the-know has not been forthcoming.
About 3:37 a.m. Tuesday, the occupant of a residence located in the 400 block of 1st Avenue SE did call the police department to report he was awakened by the sound of multiple gunshots. Officers discovered one bullet had hit the house. Again, no suspects were named nor was any potential motive for the shooting revealed.
The two-shots-fired incidents raised the count to three so far this week. Another drive-by shooting was reported Sunday in the 700 block of M Street NW.
No one was injured in the three gunfire attacks.
Hunnicutt said information concerning the identity of the suspects is vital in such cases.
“In these types of instances we strongly depend on the cooperation of victims, witnesses and the public,” he said.
Anyone with information concerning the three recent drive-by shootings or any of the shootings that have plagued city streets in recent weeks is urged to contact police headquarters at (580) 223-1212.
