The details

Turner Public School voters approved two bond issues in February 2010.

Proposition 1 totaled $940,000 and is for the purchase of a new library and media center, a digital sign for the front of the school, a dressing room and public restrooms for the softball/baseball complex, a basketball scoreboard, energy-efficient windows and lighting, technology upgrades, air conditioning in the auditorium and a Suburban.

Proposition 2 totaled $110,000 and is for the purchase of two off-lease diesel buses to replace older buses.

The district is also using building fund money, volunteers and donations to enhance projects across campus.

The progress

According to Superintendent Leslie Christian, bond projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of the school year.

The digital sign, basketball scoreboard, a vocational agriculture trailer, two school buses and a Suburban have been purchased and are in use now.

Construction the library and media center has begun between the high school and elementary.

With donations of labor and materials, the new building in the softball/baseball complex will include locker rooms, air conditioned restrooms, coaches offices and a concession stand.

Work will begin this fall on new windows and lighting in upgrades.
