Leo James Connor an Ardmore area resident, was born on June 10, 1925, to William and Vena (Wickiser) Connor in Sullivan, Illinois. He passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Okla., at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 11 days.


 Leo James Connor an Ardmore area resident, was born on June 10, 1925, to William and Vena (Wickiser) Connor in Sullivan, Illinois. He passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Okla., at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 11 days.

 

Leo married Jennie Casanno on February 16, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. They had three children and moved to Ardmore about eight years ago from Florida. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2011.

 

He was a business owner.

 

Leo was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Big Brothers Jewish Federation and Master Gardener. He was of the Baptist faith. After retiring Leo enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing and traveling. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard under direction of the U.S. Navy during WWII and he served from 1942 to 1946.

 

He is survived by his children, Diane Raper and husband, John of Mannsville, Oklahoma, Rita Logan and husband, Pat Murry of Springtown, Texas, and Bill Connor of Sunland, California; sister, Dollie Branscum of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives; and many dear and loved friends.

 

Leo Connor was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Connor; parents, William and Vena Connor; brother, Noble Connor; sister, Mary Thurmond; and great-grandson, Zachary Hall.

 

The family is planning a memorial service at a later date.
