Wilbun Leon Williams was born in the Milo Community March 20, 1944. He lived his entire life in Carter County. He attended Central School in the Woodford Community and graduated from Graham High School in 1964. At a young age he united with Jehovah Baptist Church. After 36 years, he retired from Day Concrete Block. In 1999, at the time of his retirement, he was a machine operator.

Leon and the former Sharon Kay Stevenson were married in Ardmore December 12, 1971, and made their home together in the Gene Autry Community for the past 39 years. Thereby, he became a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served as chairman of the Board of deacons, choir member, Ushers’ Board and the Brotherhood. His civic duties include Gene Autry School board member and a member of Springer’s Fire Department.

 

Leon departed this life Monday, August 22, 2011, at 4:05 a.m., while a patient in Mercy Memorial. He was 67 years, 5 months and 2 days old.

 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon of the home in Gene Autry; son, Corey Anderson (Tiffany), Ft. Worth; three daughters, Tracy Loftis (Andray), Gainesville, Stephanie Jefferson (David) and Vivian Williams (Cory); seven grandchildren, Ashley Stevenson, Amber Stevenson, Demontrea Stevenson, Delicia Stevenson, Callie Stevenson, Jarodsha Douglas and Daylan Williams; six great-grandchildren, Jakirah Bennett, Keirra Dorsey, Aniyah Dorsey, Asjia Johnson, Demontrea Stevenson III and Deleigha Stevenson; brothers, Johnny Wright, Ardmore, Billy Jo Scott, Oklahoma City, and J.W. Scott (Tillie), Milo; sisters, Daisy Hutson (Monty), Spencer, Rosetta McKenzie, Bloomington, Calif., and Emma Prince (Altus), Elmore City; numerous nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law, other relatives; and friends.

 

Leon was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Scott; brothers, Foxy Scott, Zeno Scott, Mitchell Scott, Charles Williams, James Willie Scott, George Scott and William Scott; and sisters, Corine Wright, Margie Scott, Eddy Scott, Charlene Richardson, Mazell Anderson and Minnie Simpson.

 

Family and friends will gather at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gene Autry, Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. Pastors G.L. Stevenson and Kirk Rushing will officiate.

 

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Nieces and nephews will serve as bearers of the flowers and Bier. Honorary bearers are Lanny Roberts, David Walker, Ricky Dowdy, Ronnie Dowdy, Ray Williams, Gerald Holybee and Henry Epps.

 

Public viewal will begin in Kirk Chapel Friday morning at 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Services are entrusted to the care of Kirk Funeral Home.
