Harvie Howard Robinson Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Lone Grove Cemetery with Pastor Ed Lee officiating.


Harvie Howard Robinson Jr., 83, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Lone Grove Cemetery with Pastor Ed Lee officiating.

 

Howard was born on February 7, 1928, in Waurika, Okla., to Harvie Howard Robinson Sr. and Addie Leona Robinson. He married Ester Mae Daniel in October of 1947. She preceded him in death in 1989.

 

While growing up in Britton, Okla., he worked on a dairy farm at the age of 14 where he was not only up by 4:30 a.m. for milking, but drove the delivery truck as well. Before joining the Army in 1946, he helped his father as a rock mason, laying rock on the cabins at Lake Murray. While in the Army, he was a Communications Specialist and was discharged in 1947.

 

After his honorable discharge, he and Ester Mae were married and made their home in Ardmore. He began his career as a truck driver for Fox Rig and then later for Lumberman’s Millwork and Supply Company. After delivering materials to customers all over Southern Oklahoma and North Texas, he was promoted to salesman and continued working until his retirement in 1992 after 43 years. He considered each of his customers as close friends. His hobbies included playing guitar, oil painting and his favorite, being a amateur radio operator. He looked forward to the monthly meetings at his house for the amateur radio club members were some of his dearest friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; son, Kevin Leo Robinson; and sisters, Leola Upshaw, Kathy Seaton and Vida Head.

 

Howard is survived by his sons, Alan Robinson of Ardmore, Kenneth Robinson and his wife, Linda of Ardmore, and Dennis Robinson and his wife, Marsha of Farris, Okla.; daughter, Linda Bannister and husband, Bruce of Van Alstyne, Texas; six grandchildren, Renee Robinson of Prescott, Ariz., Aaron Robinson of Kansas, Clint Robinson and wife, Lyndsi of Edmond, Okla., Dustin Robinson of Norman, Okla., Ashley Mitchell of Dallas, Texas, and Erin Ward and husband, Corey of Van Alstyne, Texas; great-grandchildren, Caison and Braelon Robinson of Edmond, Okla., Madisen and Lizzie Ward of Van Alstyne, Texas, Michayla Hubbard, Damien Robinson-Little and Erik Hubbard.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Spurgeon, Don Drake, Russ Anoatubby, Gary Simmons, Jon Lofton, Butch Bridges, and his fellow amateur radio club members.
