Services for Linnie Mildred Reid, 86, of Ringling, Okla., will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Community Fellowship Church in Ringling, Okla., with the Rev. Wayne Reid and the Rev. Rodney Worsham officiating. Interment in Loco Cemetery, Loco, Okla. Services are under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home in Ringling, Okla.

Born September 16, 1925, in Olive Hill, N.C., the daughter of Locket and Mable Clayton Powell. Mrs. Reid passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011, in Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Okla.

 

Mildred had been a resident of Ringling for over 60 years. She had owned and operated two cafés in Ringling; and then at the age of 45, went to work at Uniroyal Goodrich and worked over 20 years until her retirement from Michelin. She was a wonderful cook. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing. She was a woman of many words and always spoke her opinion. She was a member of the Community Fellowship Church in Ringling.

 

Mildred married the love of her life, Jesse Reid, in Loco, Okla., on Sept. 16, 1925. He preceded her in death April 24, 1992. She was also preceded in death by both parents; and a daughter, Iva Dale Strawser.

 

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe B. Reid and Sandra of Healdton, Tony Reid and Penny of Lone Grove, Bobby Reid and Jayne of Ringling, and Wayne and Dana Reid of St. Louis, Mo. Three grandchildren she helped raise, Jay Don Scott of Nebraska, Barbara and Matt Timmons of Ada, Okla., and Kim and Rich Rosenberry of Winchester, Va.; and a special friend and caregiver, Nancy Cantrell of Wilson.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 this evening at the funeral home in Ringling, Okla.
